Creating a Winter Wonderland Wedding - by Sarah Cronin
Imagine you pull up to your wedding venue and step outside, wrapping a gorgeous white faux fur shrug around your shoulders. Sun rays hit the beautiful freshly fallen snow, creating natural sparkles all around. Frost blankets the tree branches. The crisp, clean air instantly brings a glow to your cheeks. Time seems to stand still in the quiet peace of winter. As you enter the reception hall, the smell of spruce, apple cinnamon and nutmeg transport you to the magic that is the holidays. A mistletoe adorns the entryway and a glowing fireplace flanked by Christmas trees warms the air to create a cozy North Pole paradise for you and your guests. Here are five reasons why the most wonderful time of the year may be the perfect backdrop for the beginning of your marriage story.
Winter provides beautiful scenery. While summer is beautiful, this scenery simply cannot be duplicated in June or July.
If you are nervous about booking that photographer that you love, chances are, they are less busy during the off-season. The same is true for that venue that you’ve been dreaming of or any popular and talented member of your wedding team. These people are normally not as busy during the winter and may be more available to you.
Because these talented professionals may be less booked in the off-season, most of them offer reduced prices during the winter. If they don’t advertise reduced winter prices, it is at least worth an ask. This may leave you the extra money you need to hire a wedding planner!
The holiday season is a time for celebrating with family and friends. Sleigh rides, hot cocoa, sharing gifts and gathering together. What a perfect time to hold the most important day of your life!
Spruce, pinecones, red votives, mistletoe, Christmas trees and more! The decor of a winter wedding offers a chance to make your reception venue feel extra warm and inviting. It gives you a chance to make your wedding unique. Your color schemes and decorations will most definitely not be a carbon copy of any of your friends’ summer or fall weddings.
There is something about the feel of an off-season wedding that cannot be duplicated any other time of year. Before you dismiss the idea of a winter wedding because of the weather or hectic holiday schedules, be sure you have at least considered some of the benefits of a celebration that does not happen in the summer months. If you love the holidays, it may be the perfect time of year for you to exchange vows!
